United Way of Calgary and Area is about people helping people and about building our community. We give support where and when it is needed - by investing in 250 programs offered by 130 agencies in Calgary. We also support programs and initiatives in Airdrie, Cochrane, High River, Okotoks and Strathmore. Increasingly, we are examining the underlying causes of social problems - such as poverty - and developing long-term solutions to reduce and even eliminate them. We collaborate with individuals, communities, business, government and organizations to achieve positive change. And through the power of working together, we help people in need gain greater independence, safety, confidence and dignity. As we have for more than 65 years, we direct Calgarians' donations to where they're needed most. This year, United Way is investing $40.8 million to help people in Calgary and area lead healthier lives, build stronger families and communities, become self-sufficient and give children and youth opportunities for the future.
